This generator prints a calendar with public holidays already marked in each date cell. Pick United States, United Kingdom, Canada or Australia, optionally add popular observances such as Valentine's Day and Halloween, and every relevant date is labelled on the printed page.

Holidays that are calculated, not looked up

Fixed-date holidays are straightforward, but most of the ones people care about move. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November, Memorial Day is the last Monday in May, and Easter follows a computation tied to the lunar cycle. This generator derives every one of those from its rule, so the dates are right for any year you enter rather than only for the years someone remembered to type in.

Federal, statutory and bank holiday sets differ by country, which is why the region selector changes the whole list rather than just the labels.

Public holidays versus observances

Public holidays are the days offices and schools close. Observances are days people celebrate without a day off: Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Halloween, Christmas Eve. Keeping them in separate switches means an office wall calendar can stay strictly business while a family calendar can carry everything.

Observances print in a lighter grey so the genuine days off still stand out at a glance.

Regional holiday coverage

The United States set covers all eleven federal holidays including Juneteenth. The United Kingdom set covers the bank holidays observed in England and Wales. Canada covers the national statutory holidays, and Australia covers the nationwide public holidays. State, provincial and territory-specific days vary too much to print by default, so add those by hand.

If you need a completely clean sheet, set the region to none and the calendar prints without any holiday labels at all.

How to print your calendar

  1. Choose your paper size before downloading. The sheet is drawn at the exact dimensions of Letter, Legal, A4 or Tabloid, following the international paper size standards.
  2. Download the PDF file format file, or open it in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  3. In the print dialog set scaling to 100% or “Actual size”, never “Fit to page”, so the grid keeps its measured proportions.
  4. Match the printer’s paper tray to the size you picked. For Tabloid (11 × 17 in), use a printer or copy shop that feeds 11 × 17 stock.

Frequently asked questions

Which holidays are included for the United States?
All eleven federal holidays, including Juneteenth and Veterans Day. Turning on observances adds popular days such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Halloween.
Are state or provincial holidays included?
No. Those vary too much between jurisdictions to print reliably, so only nationwide holidays are marked. There is room in each cell to add your own.
